Ricky & Kate’s Wedding Day

I love how each couple I work with in sharing and documenting their day becomes a unique and intimate experience.  Kate, Ricky and I enjoyed each other from the time we met and in a few short months I have thoroughly enjoyed the unravelling of their story, their love.

A quick engagement lead to planning a wedding very quickly.  But their vision for the day was intentional, but with an air of grace.  They went with the flow and it was super fun collaborating on ideas and being with them at this time in their lives.

The wedding weather was a soft sprinkling rain that seemed a kind of perfect feeling for them.  They weren’t phased by it, and accepted it completely as their day.  Kate was giddy with exctiement while getting ready with her friends and mother, while Ricky was cool, finishing thinking through the details of the ceremony and enjoying the company of his friends also.

The ceremony was going ahead rain or shine.  It was a beautiful ceremony, the emotions were high, and the love between these two shined away the rain and they stood before their family and friends and made their commitment to each other.  Ricky expressed his vows through lyrics from a Beatles song which was precious. Their vows were put in a beautiful wooden box for them to open at their first year anniversary.  They sealed their love with a kiss and ventured on to celebrate more with their bridal party and family.

The reception was lovely with lots of natural light and a warm environment at Warner Park Community Recreation Center.  Special cocktails were served and a delicious buffet.  Speeches were delivered graciously and with fun and laughter. One of my favorite parts at the reception was when Kate’s dad brought a Ukulele up to the couple and told everyone how he used to sing to her when she was little, and that for one last time he would like to sing again.  There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.  Such beautiful loving families coming together to share in the love of their children.  It was an honor to be there with them and I wish you all the very best in your lives together. A special thanks to Sarah Wykhuis for being such an awesome friend and second shooter!  Thank you and congratulations Ricky and Kate.
